Antoniolo Gattinara 2014 (half bottle 375mL) - First Bottle

Reviews

92 Vinous -
Antoniolo's 2014 Gattinara is gorgeous. What a wine. Readers will need to cellar the 2014 for at least a few years to allow the tannins to soften a bit. Hints of pipe tobacco, dried cherry, mint and dried leaves give the 2014 lovely aromatic overtones to match its mid-weight personality. In the glass, the 2014 is nervy and bright, but it gains a bit of flesh over time. Traditionalists will adore this classically austere Gattinara from the Antoniolo family.
92 Wine Spectator -
This still has one foot in its youth, with fresh cherry, berry, licorice, sandalwood and eucalyptus flavors. Turns lean and firm on the spicy, woody finish. Drink now through 2025. 1,250 cases made, 500 cases imported.

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!
Another stunner from one of our all-time favorite producers from Alto-Piedmont. Double 94 point scores and a wine that offers such incredible value. Just take it from the Nebbiolo expert Antonio Galloni who says this: "Antoniolo's 2014 Gattinara is gorgeous. What a wine." We have but a few cases of this sexy little half bottle available...while they last!

About the Producer

Located in northern Piemonte in the commune of Gattinara, this high altitude, cool climate site create mineral and earth driven Nebbiolo. The Antoniolo family uses a light touch to allow the pure and precise flavors to shine. Founded in 1949 and today operated by Lorella and Alberto Antoniolo, this small (15 hectare) estate is a classic Alto Piemonte example of a focused family winery. Here in the glacial moraine soils of Gattinara, the winery farms only the indigenous Nebbiolo and Erbaluce. The vineyards here are a mix of glacial moraine/sand, limestone and white clay. The average age of the vines is thirty years.
