Rudd’s Crossroads cabernet sauvignon is a new offering – and one with a brilliant promise! All estate fruit, organically grown on the Rudd estate in Oakville – for our exceptional price of just $69.95! That’s a huge savings for such a wine (normally $90 at the winery), and this 95 pointer just cracked our top Napa cab values as a result!

Rudd’s Oakville Estate is an absolute gem of a property, in the prized eastern edge of Napa's most expensive appellation – and only a jump away from vineyards like St. Eden, Tierra Roja, Tench, and Screaming Eagle. This 2019 vintage marks its 20th anniversary, and what a year it was! 2019 was a warm, dry year that provided plenty of concentration and structure – yet with a bright, pretty approachability that continues to surprise and delight even the most hardcore industry veterans. Beautiful acidity and a very uncharacteristic immediate approachability to these young cabernets was something of a surprise for the producers, and a welcome one, at that.

This wine is the perfect showcase of the 2019 vintage in Oakville, loaded with the Rudd Estate hallmarks of black cherries, dusty cocoa nibs, red and black currants, and ripe black plums. Roasted herbs, vanilla beans, and earthy baked clay notes complete the profile, with an overt friendliness that makes this almost too easy to sip! There’s structure and depth, to be certain, this is Oakville cabernet after all – but the tannins are plush and velvety, and each bold sip glides down the gullet seamlessly. Great fun on this one, and certainly one to showcase the beauty of Oakville, all for an extremely decent price!

PAIRING IDEAS: With tomatoes at their absolute peak, this is a prime wine to have with a proper BLT! Get some fancy, thick-cut bacon, some Bibb lettuce, and juicy heirloom tomatoes. Slice them about a third of an inch thick, and season with EVOO, salt, and pepper, while you toast your bread. Pro-tip: toast your bread in a skillet, and use the bacon fat in place of butter. Best BLT ever!

About the Producer

Rudd Winery, situated in Napa Valley, is a storied establishment with a rich and fascinating history. It was founded by Leslie Rudd, a visionary entrepreneur with a passion for both wine and the Napa Valley. In 1996, Rudd acquired a 55-acre estate in Oakville, renowned for its exceptional terroir, and embarked on a mission to create world-class wines. The winery's first vintage was released in 1999, and it quickly garnered acclaim for its commitment to quality and meticulous winemaking practices. Rudd Winery is not only celebrated for its superb Bordeaux-style red blends but also for its meticulous attention to detail in both the vineyard and the winery. Sadly, Leslie Rudd passed away in 2018, but his legacy endures through the wines produced at this iconic Napa Valley estate, where innovation and tradition harmoniously come together to craft some of California's most sought-after wines.
