Fairly pale gold-tinged color. Captivating aromas of lemon custard, quince, brown spices, smoke and wet stone. Highly concentrated and on the dry side, with a powerful spice character contributing to an impression of power. Conveys a tactile sense of high dry extract and finishes with chewy tannins and lingering notes of bitter orange peel and lemon curd. This very deep, multilayered wine finishes with exceptional length. A serious step up in concentration from the 2012 Clos Windsbuhl, this is an especially powerful and ripe Rangen because the yields were even lower than usual as a result of hail in early July. An absolutel knockout.

About the Producer
The Humbrecht family has cultivated their vines in the great terroirs of Alsace since 1620. The expression of terroir is reinforced by cultivating the vines organically and according to biodynamic principles of over 100 acres of prime vineyards. Winemaker Olivier Humbrecht is one of the only winemakers in the world with an MW and his approach is always to let the terroir shine above all else. Ripe, balanced, and concentrated grapes enable him to eliminate any vinification techniques that modify the initial harmony of each terroir. To put it simply, Zind Humbrecht is one of the most revered and respected estates in the entire world producing some of the most exciting wines today in its storied history. -- The wine originates from vines planted in the '90s and in 2001 in the Grand Cru Brand. The soil type is a biotite of granite containing lots of black mica.
