La Ca' Nova Barbaresco 2019 (3-Pack Horizontal) - First Bottle

Reviews

97 Wine Enthusiast -
La Ca'Nova Barbaresco Montestefano 2019: "Classic varietal aromas of violet, forest floor and camphor come to the forefront along with spicy notes on this gorgeous red. Savory and structured, the delicious palate shows raspberry compote, juicy Morello cherry and baking spice alongside taut, refined tannins and fresh acidity. A licorice note lingers on the close along with hints of truffle. Drink 2027–2039."
97 Vinous -
La Ca'Nova Barbaresco Montestefano 2019: "The 2019 Barbaresco Montestefano is broad, ample and expansive, as Barbarescos from this site tend to be. Dark cherry fruit, spice, leather, incense and pipe tobacco are some of the notes that open in the glass, but more than anything, the Montestefano impresses with its textural resonance. This huge, explosive Barbaresco will benefit from cellaring, although its pedigree is evident, even in the early going."
96 Vinous -
La Ca'Nova Barbaresco Montefico Vigna Bric Mentina 2019: "The 2019 Barbaresco Montefico Vigna Bric Mentina races out of the glass. Chalk, white pepper, crushed rose petal, cinnamon and salt abound. For readers who want to understand what Montefico is all about, well, this is it. Over the last year, the Montefico has started to flesh out a bit. Perhaps one day it will catch the Montestefano. For now, the Montefico is a Barbaresco to admire for its vibrant, mineral-drenched personality."
95 Wine Enthusiast -
La Ca'Nova Barbaresco 2019: "Woodland berry, violet, forest floor and new leather aromas take shape in the glass along with whiffs of star anise. Delicious and elegantly structured, the focused palate shows juicy red cherry, ripe raspberry, baking spice and crushed mint alongside firm, refined tannins. Bright acidity keeps it impeccably balanced. 2027–2039."

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!

The Rocca family has been making small amounts of stellar, old-school Barbaresco since the ’70s. Prior to that, their vineyard holdings were a favorite source of Angelo Gaja’s top Barbarescos (how’s that for a vote of confidence?!). We can never get as much as we’d like of these spectacular selections, as demand for this producer has reached an all-time high. Get your 3-pack before they’re gone! With 95, 96, 97 point scores, this is a three-pack to be reckoned with!

Nestled on a hillside ridge at the entrance to the town of Barbaresco, you’ll find the ancient home and vineyards of La Ca’Nova – spread across 12 hectares of pristine sites in Barbaresco. These three wines are the only Barbarescos made by the Rocca family – their “Normale”, a blend of their holdings in Ovello along with the remnants of their two single Cru bottlings of “Montefico” and “Montestefano” – combining for a miniscule total of around 1,000 cases of Barbaresco per year. These wines were the top-scoring wines on Antonio Galloni's 2019 Barbaresco report, outscoring the likes of Gaja, Giacosa, Sottimano and La Spinetta at just a fraction of the price.

We are stoked to have called in every favor and greased every palm to secure this parcel of 8 cases of each wine. These are ridiculously well-priced Barbarescos, with scores and a reputation that would easily command two to three times these prices. At $140 per 3-pack, this is something you don’t want to miss! While it lasts!

About the Producer

Pietro Rocca, a fourth generation grape grower began making and bottling Barbarescos in the 1970s. Today, Pietro is joined by his sons, Marco, an enologist, and Ivan, an agronomist who tends to the vineyards. This estate has quietly been making outstanding, terroir-driven Barbarescos for generations from two of the denomination's top crus, Montestefano and Montefico.
