Intense and pure, with a beam of black cherry, wild herbs and spice piercing a dark abyss of finely wrought tannins. Terrific acidity keeps this fresh and focused, while the finish evokes chocolate, ripe fruit, spice and mineral notes. Merlot, Syrah, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2020 through 2032. 6,500 cases made.

Prepare for dreamy cherry compote and chocolate covered blackberry swriling, with grilled Italian herbs and earthy underpinnings. It's very ripe and concentrated, but the epic 2016 vintage balnce is evident in the surprising freshness that keeps the juicy flavors in check. Basically, this is a whiplash-inducing, eye-popping, is-this-price-right evoking, gem of of a wine that is a clear "case me" situation. First come, first served...this will not last long!

About the Producer

The estate was acquired in February 2016 by famous Feudi di San Gregorio winery in Tuscany. The name Campo alle Comete is an antique toponym from this area, which disappeared over time. The whole representation of Campo alle Comete, with its magical name (Cometa means “guiding star” or "Comet" in Italian), wants to bring the consumer into a dream world. Nicoletta Ceccoli, an illustrator from San Marino and winner of various art awards, has designed not only its logo but also a dreamlike picture, exhibited at the winery, from which they have also taken the fairy images represented in the labels. The director of Campo alle Comete is Jeanette Servidio. Together with oenologist Stefano Di Blasi, she has created 4 high quality wines within the DOC Bolgheri and IGT Toscana appellations.
