Was $48. Today -- $26.95! A super authentic, small production wine with style and substance -- if you know, you know!
It’s hard enough to score these much-loved wines from Eric Kent, but Kalen’s Big Boy Blend (from the fantastic 2016 vintage, no less!) at this price? Crazy times. And crazy times demand lots of powerful red wine consumption, are we right? First come, first served…!
To quote the winery: “Kalen’s is our “cozy sweater” of a Syrah and it remains one of EK’s most prominent calling cards, consistently bringing them new friends year in, year out. Absolutely stuffed with layers of fruit and lightly accented with French oak and characteristic spice, Kalen’s is undeniably compelling new-world Syrah. What’s not to love about this boisterous, enveloping red that’s also sneakily age-worthy?”
We think it’s packed and stacked with deep blueberry pie and black raspberry flavors accented with pepper, smoke, dark berries and toasted spice...just crazy-satisfying, rich and ridiculously affordable today. A good candidate for the cellar, too! The 2016 is a blend of mostly Atoosa's vineyard in Russian River, filled out with Steiner Vineyard, another great site for Syrah perched high on Sonoma Mountain. This is rock and roll in a bottle! While it lasts..!
