Colgin Cabernet Sauvignon Tychson Hill Vineyard 2006 - First Bottle

Reviews

98 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate -
From Colgin`s first-growth quality estate vineyard, Tychson Hill, located north of St. Helena, on the western slopes, the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Tychson Hill Vineyard is performing far better out of bottle than it did from cask. An extraordinary bouquet of flowers, cedar, tobacco leaf, black currants, blueberries, chocolate, and scorched earth scents is followed by a wine of prodigious concentration, purity, depth, and sweet tannins. An amazing effort for this vintage, it is a compelling bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon.

About the Producer

Ann Colgin is the heart of Colgin Cellars, a true renaissance woman and vintner of uncommon passion. Ann founded Colgin Cellars in 1992 with a vision of making the finest wines from exceptional hillside vineyards in St. Helena and was instrumental in forging a world-renowned reputation for California's small production hand-crafted wines. The Colgin winery, completed in 2002, is located at the northern end of IX Estate vineyard on Pritchard Hill. Although within the St. Helena city limits, Pritchard hill is much closer to, and more closely aligned with eastern Oakville, just perched several hundred feet above it to the east. The yields are small on the hill and the wines are concentrated and ageworthy. These are some of the very best examples of mountain Cabernet in the US, hands down.
