Since 1989, until the recent sale in 2015, Von Strasser has been well-known for masculine, structured, ageable single-vineyard Cabernet from the high elevations of Diamond Mountain. The “Post” bottling has a fine line of pure cassis and brambly blackberry, with broad-shouldered tannin and toasted cinnamon stick. Long and minerally, it hangs on with mountain fruit grip. Drink this in a decade or more!!

Founded in 1990 by Rudy and Rita von Strasser, this distinctive diamond-shaped label and eponymous brand has become synonymous with great Cabernet Sauvignon bottlings. From 1990 through 2016, von Strasser Winery was based in Napa Valley’s Diamond Mountain District appellation, an AVA whose creation Rudy von Strasser spearheaded.
