Walter Hansel Chardonnay Cahill Lane 2016 - First Bottle

Reviews

94 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate -
The 2016 Chardonnay Cahill Lane gives up loads of honeyed peaches and ripe apple notes with touches of nutmeg, baking bread and marzipan. Medium to full-bodied, it fills the palate with layer upon layer of bread, nut and stone fruit flavors, supported by bright, refreshing acid and a creamy texture, finishing with fantastic length. 1,064 cases produced.

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!
How...do...they...do...it? I mean, Hansel’s been making these high-scoring, uber-delicious wines for 20+ years and have barely ever even raised their prices! Truly astonishing. These single-vineyard new releases are tremendous, no-brainer buys! Hansel just keeps pumping out the fantastic juice -- they’ve got to be one of the most bang-for-buck producers in Sonoma by far…!

It really is astonishing. We bought every case we could (we sold out of the last release in less than 24 hours…)! MIX and MATCH as you please - FREE SHIPPING on 6 or more, of course!

I’d love to put this in a blind tasting of $100+ Napa and Sonoma chards and see the results! The chardonnay SOARS with lemongrass, grilled citrus fruits, roasted nuts, tropical fruits, lemon creme, and vanilla bean, with creamy texture and a nice backbone of zippy acidity. From 100% Wente clone chardonnay, the '16 Cahill Lane delivers richness counterpointed by cleansing acidity. BRAVO!

About the Producer

"My father, Walter, loved to grow everything from kiwi to oriental pears and more. In the 1970's he enlisted my help to plant 257 chardonnay vines. Throughout the 1980's our entire family would harvest the half acre of grapes and my father and I would make the wine; filling two barrels, which equaled 50 cases of wine. Since our first commercial vintage in 1996, I have learned with every harvest that you must listen to vine; react to Mother Nature and ALWAYS compromise quantity for quality." - Steven Hansel
