Domaine William Fevre Chablis Montmains 1er Cru 2016 - First Bottle

Reviews

93 Wine Spectator -
Distinctive for the seashore, oyster shell element that adds depth to the lemon and apple fruit. Balanced and intense, lingering with vivid acidity that drives the lemon-tinged finish. Drink now through 2024. 350 cases imported.
92 James Suckling -
Very impressive lime with mangoes, as well as white and yellow peach aromas. This has a superb palate with smooth flesh and sleek acidity. Nectarines to close. Really exotic, attractive fresh fruits and a long, fresh palate. A great and smooth-textured Chablis! Drink or hold.
89-91 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate -
The 2016 Chablis 1er Cru Montmains, which comes from ten parcels, has a clean and precise bouquet with scents of limestone, Granny Smith apples and a touch of oyster shell coming through with time. The palate is well balanced with a malic, Granny Smith apple-driven opening, a keen thread of acidity and a twist of bitter lemon on the finish. This has good potential.

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!

Wow. This is practically a “daily drinker” price on a classic Premier Cru Chablis, don’t you think?! We got our bottles --- there’s very few to go around, so if you love the lime/oyster shell/racy freshness of Fevre the way we do, we suggest moving fast.

The Montmains vineyard is mainly kimmeridgian soil, made up of a mixture of clay, chalk and fossilised oyster shells, and is widely regarded as one of the top Premier Crus in Chablis. In a fine vintage like 2016 (tiny yields), these '16s should be at the top of your list, especially priced like this! Cool and minty, with seaspray, with a hint of tropicality, this just SINGS with citrusy freshness -- so good!

While it lasts…$39.95! Amazing!

About the Producer

1959, the year in which William Fèvre declared his first crop, marked the birth of the domain. Descended from a family which had lived in the Chablis region for over 250 years, it was only natural that he set up as a winemaker with 17 acres of vineyards. Over the years the domain has acquired new vineyards in Chablis, all located in the historic terroirs. William Fèvre has become one of the biggest land owners in Chablis with 192 acres of prestigious vineyards, of which 39 are classified as Premiers Crus and 37 as Grand Crus.
