Chappellet Cabernet Sauvignon Signature Napa Valley 2021 - First Bottle

Reviews

95 Jeb Dunnuck -
The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Signature shows the density and structure of the vintage, with medium to full body, good mid-palate depth, plenty of mountain tannins, and classic Pritchard Hill blue fruits, dark chocolate, and ample minerality. This is a serious wine in the making, and I suspect short-term cellaring will be warranted.

Chappellet's benchmark cabernet sauvignon is the picturesque hillside fruit and an exemplary showcase of the 'upper Oakville' terroir. This wine shows its usual full body characteristics: ripe but streamlined dark fruits, plum, cassis, dark chocolate, and supple minerality. It's packing some mountain tannins, but a good decant will quickly lift this wine to drinkability.

About the Producer

The Chappellet's romance with Pritchard Hill began when Donn Chappellet first glimpsed the mountain's spectacular vistas in the late 1960s. Inspired by the notion that 'Bacchus loves the hills' and following the advice of Andre Tchelistcheff, he settled his family on the rocky eastern slopes of the Napa Valley. There, on Pritchard Hill's serene hillsides the Chappellet family has cultivated their mountain vineyard to produce some of the Napa Valley's most acclaimed Bordeaux varietal wines.
