Hirsch Riesling Ried Zobinger Heiligenstein Kamptal Erste Lage 2020 - First Bottle

Reviews

96 James Suckling -
Still quite closed on the nose, but refined and delicate, with a wide spectrum of aromas from basil to mandarin orange. On the palate it creeps up on you slowly, but then wave after wave of minerality washes over you, each mightier than the previous one. From biodynamically grown grapes with Respekt certification. Drinkable now, but best from 2022. Screw cap.

About the Producer

Working from a historic 500-year-old farmstead in Kammern, the family passionately dedicates themselves to Grüner Veltliner and Riesling. Their biodynamically nurtured vineyards, nestled in the Kamptal with its defining top sites like Lamm, Gaisberg, and Heiligenstein, give their wines character and a distinct 'attitude'. With a history rooted in the 16th century, Hirsch Estate emphasizes an independent winemaking approach, valuing the region's positive energy and vitality. The resulting wines boast firm minerality and a lush texture, articulating each site and soil. Their dedication to Riesling and Grüner Veltliner since 1999 reflects their belief in the suitability of these varietals for Kamptal's terroir. The entire vineyard is cultivated biodynamically, ensuring wines that proudly bear the name Hirsch.
