This is dense and tannic with beautiful bright fruit such as dried strawberry and mineral. Full body, chewy tannins and a long finish. Very muscular. Try it in 2020.

Here the restrained yet markedly spicy and beautifully layered nose is composed of liqueur-like red and black cherry, earth and lavender aromas. This is sleeker and more refined than the Grands Ech though the medium plus weight flavors possess no better mid-palate concentration or power. There is plenty of the hallmark minerality and I very much like the texture on the balanced, persistent and harmonious finale. A wine of class and grace that should also age for years. *Don't Miss*

The Drouhin’s Clos de Bèze is always a bit more reserved out of the blocks than their Griotte, though in my experience, it is one of the best bottlings of the grand cru produced in all of Burgundy, if one is sufficiently patient to leave it sleeping in the cellar until it starts to blossom. The 2013 is another characteristically structured and classic example in the making, offering up a youthful bouquet of cassis, black cherries, grilled meats, coffee, a superb base of soil, mustard seed and cedary wood. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and very much defined by its terroir, with a superb core of fruit, fine-grained tannins, bright acids and outstanding length and grip on the still very youthful finish. All this great wine needs is bottle age to blossom.

About the Producer
Founded in Beaune in 1880, Maison Joesph Drouhin cellars have spread from the historical cellars of the Dukes of Burgundy and the Kings of France in Beaune to the Moulin de Vaudon. Today the house is run by Joesph's four grand children who practiaclly grew up in the vineyards and cellars. With 80 hectares (197.5 acres), the Joseph Drouhin Domaine is one of the largest estates in the region. It owns vineyards in all of Burgundy: Chablis (38 hectares - 94 acres), Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, (38.5 hectares - 95 acres), Côte Chalonnaise (3.5 hectares - 8.5 acres). It is comprised of a majority of Premier and Grand Crus, planted with the two Burgundian grape varietals, pinot noir and chardonnay. With close to 90 different appellations, Joseph Drouhin offers a fascinating array of Burgundy terroirs and all their subtle variations.
