As usual Clos Erasmus is one of Spain's finest wines. The 2006 Clos Erasmus offers an ethereal bouquet of balsam and sandalwood, incense, liquid mineral, black cherry, and black raspberry. Dense, rich, and voluptuous on the palate, it has plenty of well-concealed ripe tannin, tons of fruit, and potential complexity.
95 Vinous -
(80% garnacha, 15% syrah and 5% cabernet Sauvignon) Deep ruby. Heady, expansive aromas of raspberry, cassis, cola, star anise, smoky minerals and potpurri. Completely stains the palate with sweet red and dark berry compote flavors; a sexy floral pastille quality gains volume with air. Deep and powerful but graceful, offering a hypnotic melange of fruit, floral and mineral qualities and completly buffered tannins. This superb and very long wine will reward patient cellaring.

About the Producer

Let's raise a glass to the daring and fearless spirit of Daphne Glorian! 25 years ago, she took a leap of faith and invested her life savings into a vineyard outside the village of Gratallops, driven by a group of passionate friends who were looking to make a new style of wine. And what a wine it turned out to be! The modern Priorat was born with five different labels, each of which went on to become world-renowned: Clos Mogador, Clos Dofi, Clos Martinet, Clos de l’Obac and Clos Erasmus. Today, Daphne's property is called Clos i Terrasses and is made up of three vineyards - Escalas, Aubagues and Socarrats. Each vineyard has its unique character, shaped by the terraces, exposure and soils. Despite the challenges, Daphne's relentless effort and drive has helped Clos i Terrasses continue to innovate and evolve. So here's to a bold vision, a spirit of adventure and the love of wine!
