“Perhaps no winery in the world guards its traditions as proudly and steadfastly as López de Heredia does… it is paradoxically a winery in the vanguard, its viticulture and wine-making a shining, visionary example for young, forward-thinking producers all over the world… At López de Heredia, there is serenity that comes with adherence to core principles…” - August 12th, 2009 by Eric Asimov, The New York Times
For 141 years the Lopez de Heredia family has made uber-traditional, unique and singular wines much-loved and collected by connoisseurs. But… I’m guessing if you opened this email, you already knew that!!
So, we are stoked to have brought in a few cases of the mind-bending 1970 at a solid price, especially considering the fine provenance here. Tondonia was planted in 1913-1914 and you can read about this spectacular vineyard more HERE.
$329 per bottle, with free shipping (as always) on 6 bottles or more (of anything). Collectors, today is the day! While it lasts…!

The 1970 Vina Tondonia Gran Reserva has a wonderful bouquet that transports you directly to the vineyard: scents of gravel, wild mushroom, cherries and dusty attic. The palate is beautifully balanced with fine tannins and thrilling, almost rapier-like acidity. There are notes of decayed red berry fruit, sour lemon, rosemary and sage. The finish is rustic but so full of energy, with hints of orange peel on the finish. Wonderful. Drink now-2020+
