Jurisdiction Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2018 - First Bottle

Reviews

94 Jeb Dunnuck -
A terrific value, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Jurisdiction checks in as 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc that spent 20 months in 62% new French oak. As with the Jurisprudence release, this comes from throughout the valley, with fruit mostly from Oakville, yet smaller amounts from St. Helena, Rutherford, and Coombsville. It’s one of the more sweetly fruited, front end-loaded wines in the lineup and boasts a dense purple color as well as loads of red and black currant fruits, notes of baking spices, new leather, and spiced meats, sweet tannins, and a great finish. It’s a sexy beast of a Cabernet to enjoy over the coming 10-15 years.
91 Wine Enthusiast -
Evoking notions of blueberry coffee crumble, this wine is thick and grippy in tannin and robust weight, with a breadth of dark mocha and dried herb. Ripe and fruity beneath a foundation of structure, it would do well to cellar further. Enjoy from 2028–2035.

About the Producer

Made by none other than Phillipe Melka (several 100-pointers to his name and dozens of scores in the 95-99 range!), and built from some of the very best fruit money can buy in Napa Valley. What's in it you ask? Just some Beckstoffer sites in Oakville and Saint Helena smatterings of Rutherford and Coombsville thrown in for good measure… no biggie.
