Too late, we are SOLD OUT!

Score of the month! OVER 50% OFF Rudy’s blockbuster 2018 Agira – goodness, how do we do it? From the highest rated Napa Valley vintage of all time by Wine Spectator! Built to last, like so many of Rudy’s awesome Diamond Mountain rockstars, but 2018 turns it up to eleven!

Wow! You just don’t see this kind of thing. The Agira Vineyard is tucked deep into the hillside of the southern portion of Diamond Mountain. This 3 acre vineyard grows a little zinfandel as well, but this offering is 100% dead serious cabernet. Deep, inky, with tons of classic chewy cassis and violets, graphite and woodsy, tasty, toasted spices. There is a wonderful concentration of black fruit here, that shows just how special this vintage is in Napa. A LONG ager, for sure, if you keep your hands off...that’s going to be hard though!

Did you know? Rudy was the first American intern at Chateau Lafite-Rothschild in 1985. Upon his return to Napa, he worked as an enologist at Trefethen before becoming assistant winemaker at Newton Vineyards, and launching the esteemed Von Strasser in 1989.

We have a minuscule amount today...best to jump ASAP!

PAIRING IDEAS: We’re doing hanger steaks tonight with our bottle. We like a little rub with assorted herbs from the garden (rosemary, thyme, etc) oil, salt, toasted peppercorns and a bite of rib or steak rub, whatever ya got. Grill it to 125 degrees, slice on the bias across the grain and that’s dinner!

MUSIC SUGGESTIONS: Put on Traffic’s “Empty Pages” and listen to Steve Winwood do his magic on the keys in the middle of the song.

About the Producer

Situated on Diamond Mountain in Napa Valley, the Von Strasser estate maintains six separate vineyards. When Rudy and Rita Von Strasser purchased the old Roddis Winery in 1990, the vineyards were planted in two stages. The oldest block, 2 acres in size, was planted in 1970 to budwood from Martha's Vineyard. The second block, 4 acres in size, was planted in 1983, also with budwood from Martha's Vineyard. In 1991, the von Strasser's embarked upon a vineyard modernization, changing the entire vineyard to a high density, vertical trellis system. An acre of Petit Verdot was planted that year with an eye towards its future use in a unique Reserve bottling. In 1998, a new piece of hillside land was cleared and planted to vineyard. Today, the property consists of Cabernet Sauvignon (12 acres), Petit Verdot (2 acres), and Merlot (1 acre).
