Muller-Catoir Riesling (Dry) Burgergarten Im Breumel GG 2019
** Quick note: we’re drinking this with crab, and...OMG. ** Normally $85-ish, our connection in Europe hooked us up with a few cases of the rare "Im Breumel" Riesling GG, and it is nothing short of spectacular. An epic treat for the senses!!
Wow. Where to start? The mineral. The purity. The sheer complexity and the way it electrifies the palate. It’s creamy, but it’s laser-sharp. Silky, but firm. Truly exceptional riesling from start to its long finish. The newest GG bottling for the winery which happens to be a monopole for Mûller-Catoir. The vineyard is situated inside the Bürgergarten. The subsoil of this vineyard is mostly crushed rock and crushed sandstone, with very old vines. Well, enough of our gushing, check out Stuart Piggott's rave review for JamesSuckling.com below! Side note: Stuart wrote an incredible book called, "Best White Wine on Earth: The Riesling Story" that is a must read for anyone who loves riesling as much as we do!/p>
PAIRING IDEAS: We’ve said this before but THIS is the greatest salad on earth, especially with a gorgeous dry Riesling like this. Thai flavors, lime juice, mint, cilantro (or leave out if you’re one of those), crisp rice, tart sausage...heaven!
MUSIC SUGGESTIONS: We don’t have a lot of good German band references other than Kraftwerk or Rammstein (yup, we’re old), so let’s go with Cindy Lauper. C’mon, you know you love “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”...
