Champagne Antoine Derigny Millesime 2012 - First Bottle

Reviews

94 Owen Bargreen (Reviewer for Vinous Media), owenbargreen.com -
A blend of 70% Pinot Noir and the remainder Chardonnay all from the Marne Valley, the 2012 Champagne Antoine Derigny Brut delivers a soft mouthfeel with layers of Pazzaz apple, white peach and stony/nutty undertones on the palate. Full-bodied and showing seriously good persistence, this beautiful bottling will cellar well for another fifteen years. Drink 2021-2036

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!

First off, it must be said that 2012 is definitely in the top vintages in the region of the last few decades -- excellent for Pinot Noir in particular (of which this is 70%)! Wine Spectator rates this vintage a rock-solid 95 points. To see a ‘12 priced like this is pretty...awesome! Definitely a “stock up” for the holiday price, or just drink it every weekend like we do!

Antoine Derigny is crafted by Bernard Remy, with son, Rudy, who has been in charge since 2008. The estate is located in the village of Allemant on the Cóte de Blancs, not far from the big and bustling cities of Reims and Epernay, and 11 hectares in various locations, which includes some highly reputed vineyards in the Grands Crus area of Mesnil-sur-Oger and in the Montagne de Reims region.

We LOVE this wine and it is quite simply an outrageous value for this level. Grab it while we have it!

PAIRING IDEAS: We had a simply PERFECT sole almondine recently at our much-loved Bistro Jeanty here in Napa, an all-time classic that pairs wonderfully with Champagne. It’s pretty simple to make -- here’s a recipe if you like, or just grab a bottle of this and head to your nearest French bistro!

MUSIC SUGGESTIONS: Go with anything Gwen Stefani, we think! There’s something about bubbles that makes us want to get up and rage a little bit!

About the Producer

After working from 1996 under his father his son Rudy took over in 2008 and has since expanded the business. Initially very small, with just a few vines of his own, the family business expanded at a steady clip. It is now comprised of 11 hectares in various locations which include some highly reputed vineyards in the Grands Crus area of Mesnil-sur-Oger and in the Montagne de Reims area. At first, concentrating on the market in France the estate has now expanded its business to serve customers in Europe and Asia. Antoine Derigny is a label made by the House of Champagne Bernard Remy. While not as old or as big as some famous Champagne brands, it compares favorably with these large producers for the consistent quality and vivacious character of their family-made Champagne. The estate located in the village of Allemant on the Cóte de Blancs, not far from the big and bustling cities of Reims and Epernay, was created 50 years ago by Bernard Remy.
