Champagne Antoine Derigny Millesime 2012
First off, it must be said that 2012 is definitely in the top vintages in the region of the last few decades -- excellent for Pinot Noir in particular (of which this is 70%)! Wine Spectator rates this vintage a rock-solid 95 points. To see a ‘12 priced like this is pretty...awesome! Definitely a “stock up” for the holiday price, or just drink it every weekend like we do!
Antoine Derigny is crafted by Bernard Remy, with son, Rudy, who has been in charge since 2008. The estate is located in the village of Allemant on the Cóte de Blancs, not far from the big and bustling cities of Reims and Epernay, and 11 hectares in various locations, which includes some highly reputed vineyards in the Grands Crus area of Mesnil-sur-Oger and in the Montagne de Reims region.
We LOVE this wine and it is quite simply an outrageous value for this level. Grab it while we have it!
PAIRING IDEAS: We had a simply PERFECT sole almondine recently at our much-loved Bistro Jeanty here in Napa, an all-time classic that pairs wonderfully with Champagne. It’s pretty simple to make -- here’s a recipe if you like, or just grab a bottle of this and head to your nearest French bistro!
MUSIC SUGGESTIONS: Go with anything Gwen Stefani, we think! There’s something about bubbles that makes us want to get up and rage a little bit!
