Paul Dethune Grand Cru Brut NV (half-bottle 375mL)
Normally $35 or so, the latest release of the always fantastically overdelivering Brut is here! We bought extra splits (at a very fine price) for your hikes, mellow evenings at home, or sneaking into newly reopened movie theatres!
A family-owned, grown, and produced Champagne house since 1610 (!!) in Ambonnay, the family owns excellent plots of Grand Cru vineyards and makes wines so good for the price it STILL boggles our minds. The style is slightly on the toasty side, brilliantly focused and balanced with crystallized citrus fruits, ginger, vanilla bean and brioche, with fine bubbles and a wonderful, harmonious texture and weight.
$30! Impossible to beat, in our book -- we just wish we had more...sommeliers in all the hip spots snap these up as quick as you can say “farmer fizz”! While they last!
PAIRING IDEAS: We always say fried chicken, because FRIED CHICKEN. But, we’ve been eating a lot of sushi and ceviche lately. This would be terrific with seared tuna in a citrus sauce, or drizzled with a little soy, mirin, sake and ginger.
MUSIC SUGGESTIONS: Montell Jordan’s “This Is How We Do It” seems appropriate here. Crank it up load and open your front door!
