Rene Bouvier Marsannay Blanc Le Clos Monopole 2014
We simply don’t get enough white Burgundy (who can?!) and rarely in this price range with this level of deliciousness and complexity. 2014 was such an incredible year for white Burgundy at any price tier. Let's just say that in a lineup of some heavy hitting Burgundies (much more expensive!), this little Marsannay not only held its own, it showed in the top five and by far was the least expensive. This groovy monopole is fresh and concentrated with superb minerality and length. Such a gastronomic wine!! Perfect for enjoying with all types of cuisine, or as a fantastic opener to a hedonistic night of vinous consumption -- yes, THIS. Let’s do THIS!
The estate has been in the family for three generations. Since 1992, it has been run by Bernard Bouvier. Henri Bouvier, Bernard's grandfather, created the estate in 1910. Henri's son, Rene Bouvier, took over in 1950, and extended the estate to an area of 29.65 acres (i.e. 12 hectares) by 1991.
