The name (pronounced “rain”) stands for Research in Agriculture and Enology Naturally, and the small team works with dedication to farm esteemed coastal vineyards along the Sonoma coast to craft limited-production, artisanal wines reflective of the distinct terroir.
The 2024 Royal St. Robert Pinot Noir is made in homage to Robert Mondavi, Carlo and Dante’s grandfather and their greatest teacher. From a selection of 15.8 acres of organic, coastal vineyards, the grapes are a blend of clones Calera, Swan, 667, 115, and 777, and the cooler growing season imparted a magnificent elegance and lifted aromatic profile, with rugged tones emblematic of the coastal terrain. Strawberries, rose buds, blood orange compote, and crushed raspberries give way to forest moss, damp earth, mushroom, and black tea for something immensely deep and dynamic with impressive length.
