Joseph Paget Les Champimonts Beaune Premier Cru 2023
50% OFF RETAIL!
The phantom producer Joseph Paget is back, and this time, we’ve scored an absolutely stunning, single-vineyard 2023 Premier Cru Beaune. The internet still knows next to nothing about this label, but our tastebuds have determined everything we need to code-crack its unbelievable quality.
If you were lucky enough to snag any of our previous Joseph Paget offers, you already know the drill. This label operates like an underground legend – almost totally dark online, yet yielding elite portfolio drops that leave our buying team (and customers) floored. While our past offers highlighted the approachable, supple charm of village-level terroirs, today we are stepping up to the prestigious mid-slopes of Beaune for an intensely structured and complex Premier Cru.
Les Champimonts sits perfectly on the limestone-heavy Beaune hill. Facing due east to catch the first rays of morning sun, this specific vineyard is celebrated for producing Pinot Noir with an elegant and robust body, alongside incredibly deep mineral persistence. Wine forums love to debate the rumors that Joseph Paget is secretly a stealth, de-classified project tied to Domaine Leflaive – but whether you believe the gossip or not, one taste of this Pinot Noir makes it crystal clear that we are dealing with elite winemaking.
The 2023 vintage blessed the region with beautifully expressive, highly aromatic, and concentrated reds. This Champimonts pours a dark, translucent ruby color, unleashing heady layers of black cherry, crushed blackberries, and exotic five-spice. On the palate, it’s velvety and gorgeously framed by fine-grained tannins and a mineral-driven finish that screams high-end Burgundy. And it is! Yet Premier Cru Burgundy of this caliber for under $55 is an absolute anomaly nowadays, so do what you must to lock in a few bottles while we still have them!
FOOD PAIRINGS: The depth and intensity of this wine could use a meal with a personality to match, and these oven-baked blueberry BBQ ribs would do just the trick.
