If there were a Venn Diagram for folks who adore a good Sauvignon Blanc and enjoy an occasional Hallmark movie, the overlap would be huge. Thinking of my mom – ok fine, and myself – and I’m guessing you know a few, too. (Don’t be shy!) So when a most pristine expression of Sauv Blanc comes from a family who could easily form the plot of a Hallmark movie… it feels like fate!

Picture this: Boy takes over parents’ and grandparents’ lovely Loire Valley vineyards. Boy teaches himself the craft of winemaking. Boy meets girl, marries girl, and girl takes on the admin side, becoming the glue of the whole operation. Boy and girl learn, adapt, expand, and eventually bring their daughter (an agricultural engineer and oenologist) into the fold. ‘Tis the very abbreviated, very lovely story of Benoit Chuveau, his wife Emmanuelle, and their daughter Lise, who now tend more than 17 hectares of land across Pouilly Fumé, Pouilly sur Loire, and Coteaux du Giennois!

Our team visited the property earlier this year and had the great pleasure of meeting this salt-of-the-earth family, and today we have their undeniably striking 2025 Silex Sauvignon Blanc from their two-hectare vineyard in Coteaux du Giennois. For those who crave a lustrous Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé, for a more everyday price, this area is the answer. An under-the-radar appellation in the Loire Valley right next to Sancerre with those same Silex soils, for a fraction of the cost.

My notes: This is the graceful, delicate side of Sauvignon Blanc – not a mouthwatering citrus bomb – but a softer and more elegant expression with a clean texture, floral meanderings, fresh fruit, and a mineral spine. It opens with white flowers and cantaloupe, melting into lychee, lemon peel, and grapefruit with added depth from a touch of grass and smoky gunflint courtesy of the Silex soils.

Incredibly pure, lively, and refreshing, with exceptional sophistication for an everyday white – it would be silly to not order six for our best price and free shipping! Go ahead and make your own Hallmark ending.
