Kenzo Estate Bordeaux Blend Murasaki Napa Valley 2007 - First Bottle

93 James Suckling -
This has a decadence that the 2006 does not have. Almost a foie gras or duck fat character, then dark fruits and sweet tobacco. Full bodied, round and velvety with lovely fruit and seared meat notes on top of very fine tannins. This could stand to be decanted, with air it delivers even more. Needs more cellar age, don't touch it until 2014.

About the Producer

Kenzo Estate, located in the renowned Napa Valley, has a fascinating history rooted in a blend of Japanese and American influences. Founded by Kenzo Tsujimoto, the visionary founder of Capcom, a prominent Japanese video game company, the estate represents a significant cross-cultural venture. Kenzo's passion for wine led him to acquire the property in the early 2000s, seeking to create a world-class winery and vineyard. The estate's vineyards were meticulously planted with various grape varieties, benefitting from the expertise of renowned winemaker Heidi Barrett. This collaboration aimed to produce exceptional wines that harmonize the elegance of Napa Valley with the precision and finesse of Japanese craftsmanship. Over the years, Kenzo Estate has gained a reputation for producing outstanding wines that reflect the terroir of the Napa Valley, combined with the artistry and dedication of its founders.
