Almaviva Proprietary Red Puente Alto 2017 (Pre-Arrival) - First Bottle

Reviews

100 James Suckling -
The aromas of blackberry leaves and iodine are wild and exotic here with mussel shells and earth underneath. Full-bodied, tight and chewy with powerful tannins that show muscle. It’s structured and powerful. Dense and very, very deep. Don’t touch this until 2025.

We scored access to a handful of this 2017 showstopper, but super-limited time offer! Order now on pre-arrival to lock in our best price – with arrival to you this SPRING 2024!

When two of the greatest houses of their respective countries combine their centuries of experience, wisdom, and creativity to fashion a wine… you’d best take note. Such has been the case of Almaviva – a Franco-Chilean endeavor that has been sought with fervor by the most impassioned collectors for nearly two decades. This flagship wine has years of critical praise and has inspired a frenzy of Indiana Jones-level treasure seekers, while still remaining relatively off-the-radar in the wine world at large.

The vineyards are high elevation, with rocky and loamy soils providing additional stress to complement the region’s Mediterranean climate. Hot days and cool nights help preserve the grapes’ acidity throughout the growing season, allowing for both power and elegance to balance the resulting wine. This wine is always captivating, but the 2017 is something truly special. So much finesse and length, with extreme concentration, structure, and almost elemental power. The final grape mix checks in at 65% cabernet sauvignon, 23% carménère, 5% cabernet franc, 5% petit verdot, and 2% merlot – a Bordeaux blend that will easily compete with many top Bordeaux growths, for nowhere near those prices.

If you know, you KNOW – don’t miss this one, and trust us – you wouldn’t want to break into this exceptional beauty before spring 2024 anyways...this is an age-worthy and collectible champion and one that will shine in any collection for decades to come!
