Louis Jadot Beaune 150th Anniversay Premier Cru 2009 - First Bottle

Reviews

94 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate -
The 2009 Beaune 150 th Anniversary Cuvee is a commemorative wine created to celebrate Jadot’s 150th birthday. The 150th Anniversary Cuvee is a selection of the maison’s best parcels in the Cote de Beaune. It boasts extraordinary richness and length, not to mention fabulous overall balance. Seemingly endless layers of intensely fragrant dark red fruit build to the effortless, huge finish. This is a fabulous showing from Jadot. It is just as impressive from bottle as it was from barrel. I think it is safe to say Jadot hit it out the park with this effort. Readers will be tempted to drink the 2009 early, so immense is its appeal, but opening a bottle before its tenth birthday is likely to be nothing more than an academic exercise. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2039.

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!
We were one of the very first “online” retailers in the USA to sell this wine back in the day when it was first offered (2009), and we still rock it every year it is made. A terrific Premier Cru bottling that encompasses 17 of the 1ers within Beaune, it was first created in the ‘09 vintage to commemorate the winery’s 150th anniversary and is still made in very good years. No surprise, it is a blockbuster. If you haven’t bought any 2015 red Burgundy, this is one not to miss. If you have already, this can serve as a cellar staple and makes an excellent centerpiece for your own Burgundy-drinking adventures for years to come!

The contrast between the writeups for this wine from Decanter (96) and Vinous (93+) is striking, although both of them rave about it, and rightly so -- you can read them below. We, of course, had to open some to drink ourselves, because...Burgundy! Never miss an opportunity. Our notes: Floral. Beautiful color. Apple, cinnamon, juicy plum, a whiff of oak. Great structure, wonderful density and texture, SUPER-long, complex, finish. We're leaning quite a bit more to the Decanter side of things, although this is clearly a BABY and will improve for many years. Wonderful -- esp. at our PRICE!

First come, first served!

About the Producer

Three decades. That’s the time it took Louis Henry Denis Jadot to found our house, in 1859, and to lay the foundations of a family-owned domaine. He would contribute to the renown of the wines of Burgundy by developing a negociant business focused on selling the wines in Northern European markets. His descendants followed in his footsteps at the head of the family business.
