The 2020 Barbaresco has developed beautifully over the last year. It marries lovely fruit purity with classic structure. A pretty appealing combination in my book. Readers looking for an affordable Barbaresco to drink now should jump all over the 2020. It's a gorgeous wine in every way.

Nestled on a hillside ridge at the entrance to the town of Barbaresco, you’ll find the ancient home and vineyards of La Ca’Nova – spread across 12 hectares of pristine sites in Barbaresco. These three wines are the only Barbarescos made by the Rocca family – their “Normale”, a blend of their holdings in Ovello, along with the remnants of their two single Cru bottlings of “Montefico'' and “Montestefano” – combining for a miniscule total of around 1,000 cases of Barbaresco per year. These wines consistently outscore and some would argue even outperform the likes of Gaja, Giacosa, Sottimano, and La Spinetta at just a fraction of the price!
About the Producer
Pietro Rocca, a fourth generation grape grower began making and bottling Barbarescos in the 1970s. Today, Pietro is joined by his sons, Marco, an enologist, and Ivan, an agronomist who tends to the vineyards. This estate has quietly been making outstanding, terroir-driven Barbarescos for generations from two of the denomination's top crus, Montestefano and Montefico.
