Gunther Steinmetz Riesling (Dry) Brauneberger 2017 - First Bottle

Reviews

92 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate -
Mainly from the Mandelgraben, the 2017 Brauneberger Riesling is fabulous on the nose, super ripe and intense but also precise, fresh and even pure, with aromas of warm fruit and coolish flinty notes. On the palate, this is a straight, vital and vibrant Riesling with lush, juicy fruit. This is a gorgeous Riesling with less than two grams of residual sugar. Tasted in March 2019.

Is there anything more invigorating than a great German Riesling? The acidity and pure flintiness, the joyous fruit, and the precise balance all come together for a beautiful wine to sip on its own or with classic fish/cheese/shellfish dishes. Personally, we’ll take a plate of Nam Kha Tod (crispy Thai rice salad) for the HUGE win!

Steinmetz Brauneberger Riesling hails from the steep banks of the Mosel, from a single vineyard planted on slate and quartz which delivers pronounced minerality and gripping acidity. From extremely low-yielding vines that are over 40 years old, the 2017 vintage may be the one of the finest wines made from this beautiful site.

Stefan Steinmetz was 18 years old when he took over the reins of the winery due to the sudden death of his father. He established the principles for making wine in a way that respects the environment, and for more than 30 years neither pesticides nor herbicides have been used. The Wine Advocate describes this rising star's wines as "highly distinctive, gastronomically versatile wines are well worth any Riesling lover's attention." We couldn't agree more, especially at this lip-smacking price. $167.40 a 12 pack, with free ground shipping!!
