Favia Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville 2016 - First Bottle

Reviews

99 Jeb Dunnuck -
The gem in the 2016s is undeniably the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville, which is all Cabernet Sauvignon from the Oakville Ranch vineyard located just above Dalla Valle. This monumental beauty boasts a deep inky color, a huge nose of crème de cassis, crushed rocks, lead pencil shavings, and obvious rocky minerality, full-bodied richness, and tannins and structure galore. It’s going to be a candidate for perfection in 5-7 years and will see its 30th birthday in fine form. It’s a brilliant, brilliant wine.
98 James Suckling -
This is a really exciting red that shows wonderful opulence of blue fruit and minerals with some walnuts. It’s full-bodied with intense tannins and fruit, yet it tightens down at the finish. Remains cool and poised. Try after 2022.
97 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate -
The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville comes from Oakville Ranch, perched just below Ovid on Pritchard hill and above Dalla Valle. Composed of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, it has a very deep purple-black color and comes charging out of the glass with vivacious blackberries, blueberry compote and cassis scents with hints of violets, oolong tea, cigar box and fragrant earth. Medium-bodied, the power of this wine comes purely from intensity, with rock-solid, wonderfully ripe tannins and fantastic freshness to support and lift the very long, perfumed finish. 327 cases produced.
95 Wine Spectator -
Dark and winey, with intense black currant, fig and blackberry puree flavors streaming through, supported by licorice snap and bramble notes and backed by energetic, tarry grip on the back end. This is dense, but shows lots of kick. Best from 2020 through 2035. 326 cases made.

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!
It’s baaack! We had so many requests for more of this that we went back to Andy and Annie and begged for a few more bottles and it's finally back in stock. Who doubted that in a vintage like 2016, Andy Erickson would make anything other than near-perfection? Collectors -- today’s the day! First come, first served…! Super limited!! “It’s a brilliant, brilliant wine.” -- Jeb Dunnuck

Only 327 cases exist of this beauty from the famous red dirt of eastern Oakville, and it’s normally reserved for Favia's loyal mailing list (it's good to be a Napa local!). Eastern Oakville is a stretch of land that Andy knows well from his work as winemaker with Screaming Eagle and Dalla Valle. The vineyard source for Maya is directly adjacent to Oakville Ranch after all and to boot it is farmed by the legendary Phil Coturri. Andy has coaxed a real beauty here, one for the ages! Don't miss! It will ROCK you to the core.

About the Producer

Annie and Andy are two of the coolest people we know in the wine biz. Annie, a viticulturist and farmer extraordinaire, who cut her teeth tending vine for David Abreu, and Andy, one of the most revered and respected winemakers in the valley today, are the ultimate wine industry power couple. When they decided to lay their roots down in the ancient Caldera that is Coombsville, and build their winery, no expense was spared and what they have created is nothing short of extraordinary.
