Wait...Languedoc makes pinot noir? We know, it threw us for a loop, too. But this Meursault-made pinot is seriously great! And there’s never a bad time to load up on overachieving bottles of pinot – especially when you can get six of them for just $90!

Domaine Boyer-Martenot is a historic Burgundy estate set in Meursault and one that Vincent Boyer has run since 2002. But when his close friend, Emmanuel Lucas De Bar approached him about crafting wines from an ancient vineyard in the Hérault valley of France – the opportunity was too fun to pass up!

The vineyard sits at the base of a 12th-century monastery, and Emmanuel farms the vines organically. The fruit is harvested and transported immediately to Domaine Boyer-Martenot in Meursault, where Vincent oversees the winemaking – utilizing the same methods and aging protocols of his top Meursaults. Native yeast fermentation, with barrel-aging for 12 months in 30% new French oak, followed by racking into concrete vats for an additional 8 months of aging before bottling. That’s a lot of love for an Under $20 Languedoc pinot noir – but one sip and we’re sure you’ll agree...worth it!

The aromas are purely pinot–red berries and wild roses, with orange peel accents, and a silky, ethereal demeanor. Vibrant graphite and salty, rocky minerality on the clean and pleasing finish...this flat-out delivers! You simply have to try this...and at just $15 each when you get six...you’d be foolish not to!!

PAIRING IDEAS: Give this a go with BBQ-rubbed and hot grilled salmon steaks. Serve atop some lime cilantro rice, and you have a quick and easy weeknight meal that will definitely find its way into your regular rotation.

About the Producer

Vincent Boyer, at the helm of his family’s historic Domaine Boyer-Martenot in Meursault since 2002, is renowned for crafting wines of elegance, purity, and class. His close friend Emmanuel Lucas de Bar, whom he met in winemaking school, brings a unique element to their partnership with his family’s organically farmed vineyards in the Hérault valley, a site steeped in history dating back to a 12th-century monastery. In 2018, the two joined forces to create Boyer de Bar, combining Emmanuel’s meticulously cared-for vineyards with Vincent’s expertise as a grower and winemaker. Their mission was straightforward: produce affordable, delicious wines from organically grown fruit, vinified with the same precision and care as Vincent’s top Meursaults. The grapes are hand-harvested, and except for the Sauvignon Blanc (fermented in stainless steel), all wines undergo fermentation with indigenous yeasts and 20 months of élevage, mirroring the regimen of Meursault Perrières. This approach, typically reserved for Burgundy’s elite wines, results in terroir-driven expressions that are both accessible and extraordinary. Boyer de Bar is a rare gem in the wine world, delivering remarkable quality and craftsmanship at exceptional value.
