Pact(e) Pinot Noir Chassagne-Montrachet Clos du Boudriotte Premier Cru 2015
100-point winemaker, Jean Hoefliger created Pact(e) to showcase Old World terroir through the lens of a New World winemaker. The results are fantastic, and these nearly decade old wines are in their prime drinking window. That we scored them without your expected sort of aged Burgundy pricing, now that is the real miracle!
Clos du Boudriotte, a Premier Cru vineyard in nearby Chassagne-Montrachet, has developed somewhat of a cult following, thanks largely to a series of impressive wines by Jean-Claude Ramonet. This site is often considered to be the finest wine in his entire portfolio...and that is lofty praise indeed! Here, again in 2015, we have a remarkable red Burgundy vintage, and one that was well-suited to the style of Jean Hoefliger’s more New World sensibilities. The resulting wine is remarkable – proudly standing with one foot in the hallowed traditions of Burgundy, and the other, in the clean and forward style of modernity. Premier Cru, single vineyard red Burgundy for under $40 is rare enough, yet to have one that has been pristinely aged and ready for your table tonight? That is something exceptional all together.
