Over 63% off on 4+ bottles – first Amuse Bouche, and now PharaohMoans...John Schwartz is a Cali-King of Cult Wines!
PharaohMoans is a cult-y Paso Robles passion project that has re-ignited here in Napa Valley! This 93 point 2021 is a wonder, and we’ve got it for the best price anywhere!
When it comes to his wines, John Schwartz only works with the BEST! Hardcore Napa cult lovers (wine, not Kool-Aid) know about Amuse Bouche. That game-changing bottling that John Schwartz and his team of winemakers partner to create Napa’s answer to Pomerol and the ICONIC Chateau Petrus? Well, this PharaohMoans red does much the same, just with its eyes set on the Southern Rhone.
John and Guillaume Fabre have crafted PharaohMoans since 2005, and always with fruit from Paso Robles. And yet, never one to miss an opportunity, when John heard tell of some top-notch Napa fruit, the paradigm shifted. He engaged Napa Valley veteran winemaker Kent Jarman to create PharaohMoans Napa Valley in 2021. One sip in, and you’ll join us in thanking the heavens that it did!
75% grenache, with 15% syrah and 10% mourvedre, this 2021 vintage is bound to be a classic. The purity of fruit, the brightness, and tension, this is a powerful beast that will compete with Châteauneuf-du-Pape’s biggest and baddest for less than half the price! Inky bramble berries, with roasted herbs, some floral notes of violets and lavender, plus this crushed gravel and chipped flint minerality, all with the warm, mouth-coating sensations of warm earth and sun-baked clay...this is a remarkable first effort that is both undeniably California, and yet, unmistakably paying deference to Châteauneuf-du-Pape. It’s too good to miss, and one you should plan to revisit every few months over the next several years or more! New cult-y Cali-Rhone that deserves a spot on your table this fall and winter!
PAIRING IDEAS: This is your classic wine for a hearty winter stew. Braised meats, plenty of root vegetables, and soul-filling, hearty broth. You simply can’t go wrong here.
