Lallier Ouvrage Grand Cru Extra Brut NV - First Bottle

Reviews

94 Wine Enthusiast -
Aged for five years with a cork stopper rather than the usual metal stopper, this wine is concentrated, bringing together great fruit, structure, a mineral texture and a rich aftertaste. The wine's intensity demands further aging, drink this bottling from 2020.

The savviest bubbly drinkers are hip to the excellence of Lallier’s Grand Cru OUVRAGE (Extra Brut), and priced like this, will be ALL over it. If you are new to this producer, it is one to own and drink at special occasions!

In 1996, Rene-James Lallier, the founder's grandson, took the brand in a new direction. He carried out major modernization work on the production facilities in Ay and refurbished the cellars in which Lallier champagnes are left to age for many years. In his quest for outstanding quality, he enlisted the help of Francis Tribaut, who worked at the time as an advisor to some of the most prestigious names in Champagne, as well as managing his family's wine Domaine in Romery. As a result of their relationship of trust and their common desire to see their work carried forward, when Rene-James Lallier wanted to sell his business, he naturally asked Francis Tribaut if he was interested in buying it. The latter took up the challenge, convinced of the potential of this already lovely brand.

Incredibly concentrated and intense Champagne from ancient soils of the Grand Cru vineyards in Ay, dating back to 344AD (and a Grand Cru since 1936). Very little to be had! While it lasts…!
