Caraccioli Estate Brut Cuvee Santa Lucia Highlands 2013 - First Bottle

Reviews

93 Vinous -
Light shimmering yellow. Aromas of Meyer lemon and pear take on subtle chamomile, ginger and floral nuances as the wine unfolds. Juicy and focused on the palate, offering intense, spice-laced citrus and orchard fruit and honeysuckle flavors and a hint of salinity that builds on the back half. At once concentrated and lithe, delivering firm closing cut, resonating floral and spice notes and impressive persistence. This exceptional bubbly wine spent four years on its lees and got 12 g/l of dosage, but it comes off dry.

About the Producer

Gary Caraccioli grew up working on his family’s farm in the Salinas valley at the foot of the Santa Lucia Mountains. In 2006, Gary enticed his Uncle Jim and brother Phil, to expand their agricultural roots into the wine business with the idea that they would make an exclusive and original wine that was not being produced anywhere else in the area. His goal was to develop a sophisticated and complex sparkling wine specific to the Santa Lucia Highlands. Today the Caraccioli’s continue to produce Brut and Brut Rose sparkling wine varietals as well as Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The fourth generation of the Caraccioli family has joined the founders in their venture, and Joe has since retired.
