97 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate -
Read
Unlike the Charmes-Chambertin, the 2016 Mazoyeres-Chambertin Grand Cru was a normal crop since it was unaffected by frost. This vintage includes 80 to 90% whole-cluster fruit. It has a majestic bouquet with bold black cherry and blueberry fruit, superb delineation and it conveys an almost infectious sense of energy. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin but there is that arching, cathedral-like structure one looks for in a Mazoyeres. It gently grips the mouth, a little chalkiness coming though on the sorbet-fresh finish. Outstanding.

Exceedingly rare and highly coveted, this Mazoyeres needs years to really show its stuff but the greatness is evident already with skyscraper like structure and mouth-coating tannins. In their 97 point review, Wine Advocate proclaimed, "It has a majestic bouquet with bold black cherry and blueberry fruit, superb delineation and it conveys an almost infectious sense of energy...Outstanding."
