Benoit Chauveau Pouilly Fume Les Croqloups 2018

Sauvignon Blanc  |  France

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!
Seriously. EVERYONE needs some SB around for any and all occasions, and this direct-imported bottle of piquant, zesty, mouthwatering goodness is a HUGE no-brainer! Only 20 cases! What's that sound? The sound of a second bottle getting cracked at lightning speed. We just don't know how it is possible to drain a bottle so quickly! This is Sauvignon Blanc at its purest, most crystalline and crisp. Pouilly Fume at its finest. Bosc pear, Pink Lady apple, Meyer lemon zest, wet stone and white flowers are what dominate this uber refreshing glass of Loire sunshine. We can't get enough!

Benoit Chauveau is a winemaker with dirty boots and calloused hands, constantly tending his land with his trusty dog by his side. A man who has learned from his father and his father from his, Benoit is a salt of the earth, humble, old school farmer and winemaker. If you ask Benoit, he is a farmer first and a winemaker second. What happens in the cellar is a direct result of his work in the vineyards as the winemaking is "hands-off". Let's just say that a 3 month aged Chevre goat cheese and a bottle of this will blow minds.

About the Producer

The same family has been making wine here for several generations. Since 2000, Benoit has been running the estate with his wife, Emmanuelle. Today, the property comprises a dozen hectares (30 acres) on various types of soil (kimmeridgian marl, siliceous-clay and Villiers limestone). They sell just 90,000 bottles a year, essentially to the hotel-restaurant sector and to small independents throughout Europe. Their approach is to continually strive to improve the quality of the wines through the development of sustainable methods, using a strict minimum of products to treat the vines against the disease.
