Clemens Busch Riesling Pundericher Marienburg Fahrlay Terassen Grosses Gewachs (Dry) 2017 - First Bottle

Reviews

96 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate -
The 2017 Pundericher Marienburg Riesling GG Fahrlay Terrassen opens with a bright, very clear, fresh and stony bouquet of concentrated white fruits and lemon notes intertwined with crushed slate aromas. On the palate, this is a highly finessed and elegant Riesling from vines that are 100+ years old. This 2017 serves intensity, power and complexity in a subtle way. The wine has a subtle tannin grip that makes this like a white Pinot Noir. Salty and crunchy and highly finessed, this is a powerful but elegant and refined Fahrlay Terrassen. Tasted in March 2019.

The majority of Clemens' production is grown on the extremely steep Pundericher Marienburg, a 25 hectare vineyard that spans an entire hillside exposed full South/Southwest. About the Producer

Clemens Busch and his wife Rita took over the family business in 1984 and since have shaped it into one of the most iconoclastic estates in the Mosel. A firm believer that natural practices in the vines and cellar lead to the ultimate expression of terroir, Clemens exemplifies the balance between tradition and forward thinking we so look forward to when seeking out new producers. The majority of Clemens's production is grown on the extremely steep Pundericher Marienburg, a 25 hectare vineyard that spans an entire hillside exposed full South/Southwest. This incredible vineyard sits right on the edge of the river and is widely considered amongst the very best sites in the Mosel. 16 of the Clemens' hectares are here, with only 2 hectares originally inherited from his father.
