Aubry Brut Premier Cru NV - First Bottle

Reviews

92 Vinous -
The NV Brut is a gorgeous entry-level offering. The flavors are brisk and finely cut in this chiseled, crystalline Champagne from the Aubry brothers. Pear, green apple, lemon oil and white flowers add to an overall impression of brightness and tension. Aubry's straight NV Brut is once again one of the very finest wines in its peer group. I rarely miss a chance to drink it. The current release is a blend of 50% 2014 and 50% reserve wines, with a bit more Meunier in the blend than is the norm. Disgorged: June 2017. Dosage is 6 grams per liter.
92 James Suckling -
A smooth, gently round and nicely balanced Champagne dominant in pinot meunier, pinot noir and chardonnay to boot. It has attractive lemon citrus flavors and is really punchy, refined and gently nutty. A smooth, pastry-like texture comes to the fore on the finish. Drink now.
92 Wine Enthusiast -
This family-owned grower is based in Jouy-lès-Reims at the western end of the Montagne de Reims. The two brothers, Pierre and Philippe, have produced a soft, balanced wine from premier cru vineyards, which is tantalizingly poised on the knife edge between freshness and richness. Apples and cream flavors round the wine very satisfactorily.

Triple 92-pointer to boot! $29.95 on 6 -- (wow! $50 retail!) We are seeing some incredible deals - now is the time to stock up a bit on imperative-to-have bubbles!

Savvy Champers drinkers already know what a brilliant value Aubry is (even at the normal $50 price) but we’re upping the ante! This family-owned grower producer is based in Jouy-lès-Reims at the western end of the Montagne de Reims, and is one of the few properties in the region to use Arbanne, Petit Meslier and Fromenteau -- traditional grapes seldom seen today but allowed in Champagne. There may not be a better value on the market in our opinion.

This NV is a classic, pure, clean, chalky, and packed with citrus oils, apples and a hint of salinity. An incredible buy!

About the Producer

The Aubry estate is in the village of Jouy-les-Reims in the western part of the Montagne de Reims. Twin brothers Pierre and Philippe farm parcels in the limestone and clay soils of Jouy, as well as sites in three other premier cru villages: Pargny-les-Reims, Villedommange, and Coulommes-la-Montagne. Aubry also farms one and a half hectares of ancient grape varieties still permitted by A.O.C. law. Their plantings of Petit Mesilier, Fromenteau (Pinot Gris) and Arbanne were completed in 1989 to mark the 200 year anniversary of grape growing by the Aubry family.
