Pierre Moncuit Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut Grand Cru Le Mesnil 2010 - First Bottle

Reviews

93 Vinous -
The 2010 Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru is a terrific choice for near and medium-term drinking. Apricot, lemon confit, wild flower, chamomile and lightly honeyed notes are perhaps more typical of a slightly older Champagne, and yet all the elements are very nicely balanced. Even in the Extra Brut version, the 2010 is creamy and ample, with the textural breadth that is common of Champagnes with some years of bottle age. Although I would not tempt my luck with extended cellaring, the 2010 is undoubtedly very beautiful and expressive at this stage. Dosage is 3.5 grams per liter. Disgorged: November 2017.

About the Producer

Located in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger where grand cru Chardonnay reigns supreme, Moncuit, a small grower producer is blowing our minds. Since 1977, Nicole Moncuit, both passionate about winemaking and by the culture of the vine, has taken over the technical direction of the House. Her expertise enables her to develop the most typical aromas of the harvest each year. They also happen to own some of the oldest vines along the entire Cote with an average age of 45 years. They farm a total of 37 acres of grand cru vineyards. No wood is ever used in the elevage to protect Mesnil’s purity and chalky minerality.
