Domaine Barraud Pouilly Fuisse En Buland VV 2017 - First Bottle

Reviews

94+ Robert Parker's Wine Advocate -
The 2017 Pouilly-Fuissé En Buland Vieilles Vignes unwinds in the glass with a complex but reserved bouquet of white currants, citrus oil, preserved lemon, orange blossom and pastry cream. On the palate, it's full-bodied, satiny and incisive, with simultaneously the most concentration, depth and cut of any wine in the Barraud cellar, displaying all the power and tension that so routinely distinguish this cuvée. From a northeast-exposed parcel that was planted in 1934, this is a superb Pouilly-Fuissé from one of the appellation's élite producers.

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!
White Burgundy in all it's glory for a song. If you want to experience the brilliance that is Chardonnay from Burgundy, but don't want to spend a small fortune, look to the small village of Vergisson, where Chardonnay in the right hands is utterly mind-blowing. Domaine Barraud is on fire right now, and En Buland is the crown jewel in their portfolio. From a north-east facing parcel, once considered too cold, global warming has catapulted this site to legendary status. It helps that the vines are almost 90 years old and farmed by hand by Daniel and his son Julien. If you like your Chardonnay with precision, tension and minerality than look no further...94+ points from Wine Advocate is nice too!

About the Producer

Domaine Daniel et Julien Barraud is not only the source of Vergisson’s finest organic wines but also sets the standard for world-class white Burgundy from the Mâconnais.

The petit hamlet of Vergisson, with its limestone soils and high-altitude vineyards, is where the region’s finest wines are made. Here, families like the Barraud's have for generations preserved their craft in its most honest form, making wine by hand from well-tended organic vineyards and aging their wines in small, old-fashioned cellars. Theirs are wines that without fail can stand tall next to comparable bottles from the Côte d’Or, yet still offer extraordinary value.
