Vermillion by Helen Keplinger Red Blend 2016 - First Bottle

Reviews

91 Jeb Dunnuck -
A kitchen sink blend based mostly on Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Syrah (there’s some Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, and Counoise) made by Helen Keplinger, the 2016 Vermillion is about as charming and delicious as it gets. Black raspberries, cherries, strawberries, spice, some garrigue and leafy herbs all flow to a medium-bodied, balanced wine that delivers tons of pleasure. It’s a great value and I’d be thrilled to drink bottles over the coming 4-6 years.

The 2016 Red Blend comes from the Sierra Foothills (69%) and Sonoma (31%) and was aged 18 months in 30% new French oak. It's blended of Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah, Petite Sirah, Counoise and Cabernet Sauvignon. Medium garnet-purple colored, it's scented of red cherries, warm plums, black raspberries and black berries with spice box and fragrant earth. The palate is medium to full-bodied and chewy, with good concentration and finishing long and earthy. 1,600 cases produced.

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!
Helen Keplinger (Grace Family, Bryant Family, Carte Blanche, and many more) makes this drink-me-every-day red blend that is mostly our beloved Grenache grape. It is vividly bright and juicy, easy-drinking (as intended) and dances all over the palate. Crazy delicious at the price --- pretty much everything Helen does overdelivers in a massive way. Packed with bright juicy but refined blackberries, spicecake, herbs and warm, fresh pie- wonderful balance, too -- dangerously drinkable!
