The Debate Cabernet Franc Three Pack 2016 - First Bottle

Reviews

To Kalon: The Cabernet Franc from this site can be magical, and the 2016 Cabernet Franc To Kalon delivers the goods. An incredible perfume of violets, lavender, incense, and black cherry and blackberry fruits give way to a powerful, layered, deep, yet weightless expression of Cabernet Franc. Made from 100% Cabernet Franc that spent 23 months in 70% new French oak, it has remarkable sweetness of fruit, awesome purity, and a layered, multi-dimensional mouthfeel that needs to be tasted to be believed. Give bottles just a few years in the cellar, and it should evolve gracefully for 15-20 years.

Stagecoach: Made of 100% Cabernet Franc, the deep purple-black colored 2016 Cabernet Franc Stagecoach Vineyard delivers vibrant chocolate-covered cherries, raspberry pie, Morello cherries and wild blueberry scents with hints of Provence herbs, tilled earth and bay leaves plus a touch of pencil lead. Full-bodied, opulently fruited and packed with red and black fruit preserves, it has a firm, fine-grained texture and seamless freshness, finishing very long and layered. 80 cases produced.

Sleeping Lady: From an up and coming site readers need to keep on their radar, the 2016 Cabernet Franc Sleeping Lady is all varietal and was fermented and aged 23 months in 70% new French oak. It’s a full-bodied, concentrated, yet powerful Cabernet Franc that has the varieties complexity front and center, giving up loads of crème de cassis, chocolate, damp earth, and exotic flowers. With considerable elegance, a beautiful sweetness of fruit, no hard edges, and a great finish, it’s unfortunately made in tiny qualities but is well worth seeking out. 80 cases.

By now, you likely know the story of The Debate. An instant culty hit, its mission every vintage is to seek out three different single vineyards with three different expressions of Napa Valley dirt, making them in the same way, to point out the incredible diversity of terroir we enjoy here. Based on the critical reviews, The Debate is clearly excelling! This is the first ever release of Cabernet Franc and the results are pretty stunning. Cab Franc is having a moment right now and when you taste these you'll know why. These are WORLD-CLASS!

Rockstar winemaker Jean Hoefliger is a huge star on the rise (well, not just on the rise, already a rockstar, really) crafting the wines of Alpha Omega, AXR, Sunshine Valley and Clark Claudon in Napa, Monteverro in Tuscany and Perinet in Priorat. He is also entrusted with making the wine of his mentor, Michel Rolland, which is quite the endorsement. We are totally stoked to have a few boxes of the amazing 2016 CABERNET FRANC 3-packs to offer you. This is quite simply head-spinning stuff: get out all your adjectives and adverbs, and maybe a “dude, GNARLY!!” as each amazing wine just washes over you with pure, sexy Cabernet Franc fruit. We loved all three wines, but the Stagecoach was an absolute knockout and our favorite of the three right now. Debate for yourself, but all three of these are killer...a new bar has been set for Cab Franc in the Napa Valley!

This is extremely limited and ONLY sold as a 3-pack (one of each). Beautifully boxed. Add this amazing rarity to your cellar!! While it lasts……

About the Producer

Wines, like people, are a reflection of their origin and evolution. By selecting three different vineyards with three different expressions of Napa Valley Cabernet Franc, and making them in the same way, the Debate seeks to point out the diversity of terroir as well as the diversity of people. We live in an age where less and less time is spent at the dinner table discussing these different points of view. The Debate's mission is to bring people together to share a glass of wine to discuss and debate just as our team does. Proprietor Rob McKay partnered with the venerable Jean Hoefliger to craft his vision. Quickly these wines have garnered tremendous critical success and a cult following. Let the Debate begin!
