The pinot noir here showcases the floral and earthy balance for which Nuits-Saint-Georges is renowned. A mixture of rose petals, licorice, and black truffles – the aromatics here are sensuous and appealing. Cherries, cedar, cinnamon bark, and clove mark the palate, with a rigid structure and depth that will allow this wine to develop over two decades. Just a treat of a Red Burgundy, at a serious value for the pedigree and price!

About the Producer

Founded in Beaune in 1880, Maison Joesph Drouhin cellars have spread from the historical cellars of the Dukes of Burgundy and the Kings of France in Beaune to the Moulin de Vaudon. Today the house is run by Joesph's four grand children who practiaclly grew up in the vineyards and cellars. With 80 hectares (197.5 acres), the Joseph Drouhin Domaine is one of the largest estates in the region. It owns vineyards in all of Burgundy: Chablis (38 hectares - 94 acres), Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, (38.5 hectares - 95 acres), Côte Chalonnaise (3.5 hectares - 8.5 acres). It is comprised of a majority of Premier and Grand Crus, planted with the two Burgundian grape varietals, pinot noir and chardonnay. With close to 90 different appellations, Joseph Drouhin offers a fascinating array of Burgundy terroirs and all their subtle variations.
