Meadowcroft Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville 2019
Ah, Oakville – the land of Napa’s most revered (and pricy!) cabernets – until now! We’ve worked an incredible deal on this inaugural release Oakville cabernet sauvignon from Tom Meadowcroft – over $80 less than the winery’s price – making this the best deal on Oakville anywhere!!
Tom Meadowcroft is a grower, first and foremost, with an estate vineyard on Mt. Veeder and scrupulously sourced grapes from sustainable vineyards around Dry Creek, Carneros, and Alexander Valley...and, of course, this prime plot in Oakville. 2019 is an absolutely phenomenal vintage for this part of Napa – especially for cabernet sauvignon – and this wine over-delivers in every Napa cab-loving way!
This full and complex wine leads with ripe blackberry and raspberry notes, accented by floral whiffs of violets and dried lavender. The luscious and inky texture coats the tongue admirably, with silky mocha notes interspersed with cigar box and baking spice. Flashy and enjoyable here in its youth, but firm and structured enough to develop over the coming 7-10 years. This is a wine to snag a few of, and then meter out over the next few years – Oakville cabernet at this price? Pretty sure we crushed it on this one!
