In 1984, at the tender age of 20, Markus Molitor took over his father's winery with a clear aim: to produce Mosel Rieslings under the name "Molitor" in the tradition of eight generations and in the same quality that made the region world-famous 100 years ago. The wines are terroir-specific, unmistakable and extremely age able. One of our favorite Mosel producers here at First Bottle! The approx. 62 hectare steep slope facing south to south-east has a unique red slate weathered soil with a high proportion of rock, which is rarely found on the Moselle. Due to the special soil, wines from the Urziger Wurtzgarten are extremely fine-spicy, fruity, wonderfully full-bodied with a fine interplay of acids and a clear structure.
