Markus Molitor Riesling (Off-Dry) Bernkasteler Badstube Auslese Green Capsule 2020 - First Bottle

Reviews

96 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate -
The 2020 Riesling Bernkasteler Badstube Auslese * (Green Capsule) is clear, deep and intense on the concentrated, mineral and lemon-scented nose that shows bright and fresh fruit and very fine broken slate aromas. Full-bodied, very intense and lush, with sweet fruit, this is an enormously salty, complex, very long, energetic and tensioned Badstube with a hint of caramel on the finessed and crystalline finish that also reveals laser-sharp but ripe acidity. The finish is very intense and concentrated but savory and stimulating. This Riesling is like a bright laser beam! But it is also very intense and concentrated. A promising wine that is made to be cellared for a minimum of 10 to 15 years. 10.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine from AP 64 21 in July 2022.
95 James Suckling -
The very striking, cool and minty nose makes it difficult to resist setting out on the much longer adventure through the magic kingdom of cool on the sleek and very refined palate. Ends with a no less striking, mint and mineral finish. Drink or hold.

About the Producer

In 1984, at the tender age of 20, Markus Molitor took over his father's winery with a clear aim: to produce Mosel Rieslings under the name "Molitor" in the tradition of eight generations and in the same quality that made the region world-famous 100 years ago. The wines are terroir-specific, unmistakable and extremely age able. One of our favorite Mosel producers here at First Bottle! The approx. 62 hectare steep slope facing south to south-east has a unique red slate weathered soil with a high proportion of rock, which is rarely found on the Moselle. Due to the special soil, wines from the ?rziger W?rzgarten are extremely fine-spicy, fruity, wonderfully full-bodied with a fine interplay of acids and a clear structure.
