Beau Vigne Cabernet Sauvignon Romeo 2019
Cabernet Blends | US
$44.95 $125.00 - 750mL
Beau Vigne’s only been around for two decades, but man, have they been on a tear! Dubbed as “one of my favorite wineries” and a “true gem of Napa Valley” by Robert Parker, Jr. – this estate has also been home to rockstar winemakers, Dave Phinney, Kirk Venge, and now, Julien Fayard...crafting some amazing critically praised wines along the way, like this 2019 cabernet sauvignon.
“Romeo” cabernet sauvignon is from the winery’s estate up at 1400 feet on Atlas Peak, in addition to select parcels of other high-elevation sites on Napa’s hillsides. Winemaker Julien Fayard (who has stints at Lafite Rothschild, Realm, Atelier Melka, Purlieu, and more) really nailed this 2019 – showcasing an excellent vintage already revered for its elegance, structure, and staying power through the lens of a true cabernet master. 21 months in 80% new French oak, plus a wee morsel of malbec and petit verdot blended in, give this polish and depth, and remarkable substance. 97+ POINTS for under $50 on Napa cabernet? That is a rare gift, indeed!
The wine reveals rich and layered aromas of toasty barrel, lifted by high-toned hibiscus and warming blackberry notes. The palate is generous and supple with concentrated, dark mulberry jam, cocoa powder, savory wild herbs, and a volcanic, earthy minerality. The entire mouthfeel is impeccably balanced and deliciously approachable now, though it will assuredly continue to evolve and improve over the next decade. This outpaces many a $100+ bottle of Napa cabernet – but at our price today, we’re talking a spectacular 64% below the winery retail of $125. Now that is a steal any way you slice it, and the sort of deal that tends to make wines grow wings. So before this flies out of the shop, be sure to grab yours!

Seamless. Black velvet-hued, polished red with aromas of mocha-espresso and dried violets. The fruit is from high-elevation vineyards, spending 21 months in 80% new French oak. With some Malbec and Petit Verdot blended in, this big, broad, teeth-gripper evolves into a glamorous mouthfeel, resplendent with dark red fruit. Devil’s Food cake, anise, and pencil shavings thread through a field of mountain brush and turned earth.
James Suckling
Lots of blackcurrant and chocolate-covered walnut character. Hints of ripe fruit, too. Medium-bodied with a tight, focused palate and a long finish. Give this two or three years to come together. Try after 2025.
