Ferraton Cotes du Rhone Villages Plan de Dieu 2016 - First Bottle

Reviews

91-93 Jeb Dunnuck -
The 2016 Cotes du Rhone Villages Plan de Dieu offers slightly more complexity, as well as surprising elegance (the region isn't known for elegance). Black raspberries, spiced cherries, garrigue and dried earth characteristics all give way to a full-bodied, concentrated, impressively textured red that has loads of character and charm.
90 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate -
Ferraton's delicious 2016 Cotes du Rhone Villages Plan de Dieu has it all. A 50-50 blend of Grenache and Syrah, it delivers bright raspberry fruit, a bit of peppery-herbal complexity and ripe tannins. It's medium to full-bodied, with a creamy mouthfeel and plush finish. It should be a terrific value.
90 Wine Enthusiast -
Subtle notes of nuts, spice and crushed earth lend complexity to buoyantly juicy black-plum and mulberry flavors. It's a plush, richly concentrated wine offset by crisp acidity and ripe, mouthfilling tannins. Enjoy now–2026.

Too late, we are SOLD OUT!

Yes, at a mind-blowing $17, it DOES have it all. Ferraton was founded in 1946 and partnered up with Chapoutier back in 2000 --- even the entry level wines are terrifically delicious, and truly screaming bargains considering their price points. $101.70 a 6-PACK w/ free ground shipping! What?!

This wine is EXACTLY what we drink at home regularly - just because it’s not a special occasion doesn’t mean you drink any less than excellent, right?? Rich and concentrated, but light on its feet, with tons of mulled berries, spice and zippy juiciness. 2016, as you know by now (thanks to all of our yapping about it) is THE vintage to buy!

We have 20 cases -- while they last!

About the Producer

Founded in 1946 by Jean Orens Ferraton, the company began with a tiny parcel of two-thirds of an acre on the hill of Hermitage. Over time the family slowly expanded its holdings into Crozes Hermitage and Saint Joseph which they farm 100% biodynamically since 2000. Around this time a partnership was formed with Michel Chapoutier to help bring the brand to the next level. Today the wines are better than they have ever been.
