100 % pinot noir, zero dosage, zippy, crisp, and mineral-driven Blanc de Noirs from one of our very favorite grower producers!

Remy Massin is a family-run producer that can trace its roots on the sunny hillsides of Ville sur Acre all the way back to 1865. Now, five generations of growing grapes later, this exceptional producer consistently crafts some of our favorite cuvees to be found in any corner of the sparkling wine world. Set in the heart of the Cote de Bar region, this is the southernmost edge of Champagne, closely matching the Kimmeridgian soils of nearby Chablis. Their vineyards are predominantly planted to pinot noir, with about 20% dedicated to chardonnay and 5% set aside for the pinot blanc.

We’ve worked with the family for years, and the wines just keep getting better. This Brut Nature is one of the best prices we can think of for a non-dosage champagne… and boy, does it rock! This 100% pinot noir thrives in the slightly warmer temps found in the Aube region, producing a balanced and generous style across their portfolio. Here, the ripeness of the fruit is perfectly balanced, afnd the decision to bypass any finishing dosage keeps everything precise and taut. Aromas of pear blossoms, star jasmine, and green cardamom burst from the glass, leading into flavors of Korean pear, orange zest, red cherries, and raspberries. The finish is earthy and zippy – with miner-laced tones of river rocks, chalk, and flint, uplifted by key lime and Meyer lemon for a final pucker that eagerly brings you back for your next sip. Just fun stuff to have and share… already planning a six-pack to go into the ice buckets for New Year’s! At prices like this, ‘tis the season to grab a tantalizing bubbles deal!

Whatcha drinking with your bird? I’m going for Cru Beaujolais, with an old Hermitage as a backup! Enjoy!

About the Producer

Champagne Rémy Massin et fils comes as a result of a passion passed on through the generations in Ville-sur-Arce, in the area called Cote des Bar. Rémy created the brand Champagne Rémy Massin et fils in 1974. He was joined by his children Sylvère, who studied viticulture oenology, and Florence, who took charge of the administrative part of the business, the export and the shipment management. Now being run by the fifth generation, respectful of the land inherited from their ancestors, in the pursuit of excellence to create a hand-crafted premium Champagne. Their vineyards account for about 22 hectares: 75% Pinot Noir, 20% Chardonnay, and 5% Pinot Blanc. The average age of the vines is 30 years old. The soils are mainly composed of limestone and clay, inserted in Kimmeridgian geological structures like those in Chablis vineyards. Champagne Rémy Massin et fils is working for sustainable viticulture with a conscious investment in the maintenance of ecological relationships so the vineyard is growing in a balanced natural environment.
